Mitsubishi Mirage 2025 Updates

Mitsubishi has already confirmed that they will be discontinuing the Mirage in the United States by 2025. This move comes as a direct result of the low sales of this hatchback in the US market. However, the Mirage is still up for sale in the US market and comes in multiple variants. Powering the Mirage is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that makes 76 hp of power at 6000 rpm and 100 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. Kia Picanto and Mazda 3 Hatchback are the direct competitors of the Mirage in the market.

Mitsubishi Mirage Expert Review

The smallest offering from Mitsubishi globally, the Mirage is currently the only hatchback from Mitsubishi, which has shifted its focus completely on SUVs. The Mitsubishi Mirage has recently received a small makeover, which saw the hatchback receiving some much-needed features. The Mirage is available in one standard GLX variant and nine colour options – Wine Red, Sunrise Orange, Medium Blue, Titanium Grey, Black Mica, White Pearl, Red Metallic, Cool Silver and White Solid.

Interior

While the minimal updates to the exterior have made things a bit interesting in the favour of Mitsubishi Mirage, the interior cabin continues to be a dated looking place that dulls the overall appeal of the car.

The three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, as well as full analog instrument console, look as if they belong to a car from a bygone decade. The same can be said about the centre console as well, which though being wide in size, lacks in modernity, with the absence of a modern-day touchscreen infotainment system. In place of it comes an archaic 2-DIN music system, along with controls for manual AC below it.

The Mitsubishi Mirage also lacks a number of modern comfort and convenience features, however, the cabin doesn’t lack in space by any means. The large cabin liberates a sufficient amount of room for three people at the back with ease.

Exterior

With the new updates, Mitsubishi has succeeded in sprucing a fresh lease of life in the Mirage. While the Mirage used to look a bit drab, a few changes at the front and rear have risen up the appeal a bit.

At the front, the Mitsubishi Mirage now comes with a set of HID projectors along with daytime running LEDs within the wraparound headlamp units, with the car having the same small and sleek front grille. The front bumper sees some major changes in the form of big chrome garnish running across the bumper and ending up in fog lamp housings.

The side profile of the Mitsubishi Mirage remains more or less with the hatchback having a rounded profile with absolutely no prominent character lines accentuating the side. The inclusion of machined alloy wheels, however, do try to liven up things a bit.

At the rear too, Mitsubishi haven’t brought much change, however, the tail lamps now get LED inserts, and the rest of the boot lid design remains unchanged with a clean design and a large roof spoiler.

Ride & Handling

With Macpherson struts at the front and torsion beam at the rear, the Mitsubishi Mirage’s simple architecture under the skin has been tuned on a softer side, given the hatchback’s urban focus, which does manage to give a decently comfortable ride quality. However, the steering setup simply lacks the feel of an involving car, thus lacking in driving dynamics.

Engine & Fuel Consumption

At the heart of the Mitsubishi Mirage sits a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, which has been doing its duty in the Mirage from day one of its existence. Currently the smallest engine in Mitsubishi’s lineup, this engine is coupled to a CVT gearbox as standard and produces a maximum power output of 78 PS and a peak torque output of 100 Nm. The only wonderful fact of this engine is its fuel-efficiency figure, which at 22.1 kmpl makes the Mirage one of the most fuel-efficient cars in the market right now.

Braking & Safety

For an entry-level hatchback, the Mitsubishi Mirage suffices with the basic safety equipment, such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control, hill start assist, tire pressure monitoring system and reverse parking sensors.

Verdict

The Mitsubishi Mirage doesn’t break any new ground as a revolutionary product, as it is just above average in every other aspect. The car is decently sorted in the basics like styling and engine performance, with the spacious cabin and supple ride quality saving the grace for itself. The minute styling and equipment updates, which Mitsubishi brought for the Mirage have managed to keep it on the radar of potential buyers.

  • Compact hatchback with a spacious cabin

I recently purchased the Mirage as my first even brand new car. I mainly use the car for commuting to the office, covering nearly 30 km every day. Then there are occasional longer distance weekend trips. After using it for a few months, I find the Mirage an absolutely practical city car that is compact in size but offers you a lot of interior space with it. I find the car totally effortless to drive and navigate the city traffic. Thanks to the very well tuned and refined engine, a rather smooth gearbox. A wholesome car within my budget scoring well in comfort, safety, connectivity.

  • Spacious and powerful

For a hatchback, the Mitsubishi Mirage is a really good package. I have been driving it for over a year now and it has been truly satisfying in all aspects. I bought it primarily for daily commute purposes and so far, it has been a great car to drive on all kinds of roads. The hatchback looks really stylish and sporty on the outside and on the inside, it offers surprising space considering its size and dimensions. The Mirage is perfect for sustainable daily drives, not to forget, it offers enjoyable performance and great power as well. It is not a boring car to drive and is really a good package for everyday use.

  • Affordable car that is offering host of standard tech and features

Ironically if I may say there is no such optical illusion is associated to the model as the brand name ‘Mirage’ suggests. Everything is so very real about it. Perhaps this is the last subcompact hatchback that is still found in market. This reasonable priced model is readily rewarding its buyers with host of features and standard tech. Some of its noteworthy features are its automatic climate control, touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Yet the model is somewhat disappointing as it is not so comfortable. The driving capacity is also quite slow.

  • A practical little car

Since my SUV collapsed in an accident, I rented Mitsubishi Mirage for a month. While driving it, I can feel a connection to the road. I have driven my SUV for around seven years, and it made me numb to the driving sensation, but the Mitsubishi Mirage is absolutely fun to drive. It is also easy to squeeze down a narrow street and park in cramped spaces. If I roll over the car over small bumps, the suspension quickly smoothens them so they don't reverberate throughout the cabin. The only thing I wish was a more plush cockpit.

  • Unparalleled Energy!

This is my first ever purchase of a hatchback. Mitsubishi Mirage is a five seater hatchback that is by far the most suitable option for my five member family. I am so overwhelmed to share the news of my recent purchase. In my opinion, it's a very versatile and spacious model. I'm partaking in enjoying the features of this entire vehicle without limit. I am happy that the car has really surpassed my assumptions for a model at such a low cost. This beauty, which appears expansive, open, and impressively contemporary, with respect to regular visits, its energy is unrivaled!

  • Best Family Car!

Primarily I was confused between two models for purchase- The Mitsubishi Mirage and the Chevrolet Spark. but some features scored the Mirage higher on my scoreboard. The Mirage's 1.2-cc engine is available to new car buyers. The Mitsubishi Mirage is known for being dependable, and it comes equipped with features like Central locking, a 12V front-only socket, ABS (Anti-lock Brake System), etc. On learning more about this car I found it to be the best as a family car and for regular usage purposes.

  • the youthful car

Who doesn't love to own cars? I have always wanted to purchase my own car since college. I decided to make savings for the first two years from the internships and other part-time jobs. By the end of the second year, I had enough money to purchase a car and my father also decided to provide me with some extra funds and get a nice car. I asked my father for suggestions and he couldn't come up with anything that I liked. I recently saw the ad of Mitsubishi Mirage and really liked the youthful look. I decided to visit their showroom and really liked the car. The orange shade was in display and it looked spectacular. It had a lot of space and 1.2-liter 3 Cylinder engine provided with 100 Nm of torque and 77 horsepower which was a great ride. The seats were very comfortable and it could achieve 100 km/h in 13.8 seconds. I am very happy with this purchase and it gave amazing service.
